Under petition of; Mr.’s. Ross G. Allen, Alfred R. Kennickell & Fred W. Ogden was granted rights to incorporate Under the State of Georgia and Chatham County, (the Wymberley Yacht Club, Inc.) on January 28, 1938. With the sole object of the proposed corporation “to own, hold, control and operate a salt water dock, or docks and docking facilities for small motor and sailing crafts, and to own, hold and control the highground and the approaches adjacent to said dock” “and to be maintained for the sole use, benefit and enjoyment of the members of said social organization, and their families”.
This property later acquired by Mr. James (Jim) Richmond, President of Wymberley Estates, deeded the WYC property in 1948 to the residence of Wymberley and Wymberley on the Marsh. “The WYC, open for membership only to property owners, is being formed to manage two (2) water front properties. Here you will have access to deep water for boating, fishing and swimming on the Blue spanses of the Skidaway River.”

The two water front properties being the WYC property and the second property being the 40 foot parcel located at the east end of Richmond Drive. In 1985, Jim Richmond later deeded this second parcel to the Ladies of the Wymberley Garden Club to be maintained and perpetuated in its natural surroundings.
Since its conception and throughout the years the WYC board of stewards, have maintained the vision of Jim Richmond, providing a social and meaningful environment for swimming, fishing and boating, made necessary improvements to the dock, and organized social events for residence and members of Wymberley and Wymberley on the Marsh bringing the community together for the betterment of all.
